Tilton, Illinois May 2013—Pet care professional, Tony Piatt of Paw-a-day Inn K9 Suites in Tilton, Illinois has earned Level I certification through Outstanding Pet Care University (OPCU), the leading provider of education and training for pet care professionals. Piatt's certification is among the first in the area.

Outstanding Pet Care University’s certification program is the only certification for pet care professionals working in the pet boarding, doggie daycare, and grooming industries. Education and certification demonstrates a strong commitment to the highest standards of care and safety for pets, as well as service standards for pet owners. 

Piatt, who is also the owner of Paw-a-day Inn K9 Suites, attributes the continued growth and success of Paw-a-day Inn K9 Suites to its expert care and proven processes for keeping dogs safe, happy and comfortable while their owners are at work or traveling on vacation.

Tony has been professionally training dogs for over 13 years. He started training his first German Shepherd in the sport of Schutzhund then transferred him over to a dual purpose police dog and sold to a local Police Department. His next German Shepherd, Rex, was imported from Holland and worked as a dual purpose police dog at the Danville Police Department, where Tony worked the streets as a Patrol/K9 Officer for 14 years. Tony certified Rex with NAPWDA and ILPWDA annually in Obedience, Tracking, Handler Protection, Area and Building Search and Narcotic Detection. K9 Rex, passed away in April of 2011.

Tony has worked with hundreds of dogs and trained with multiple professionally dog trainers from all over the United States and Europe. He continues to train with top police K9 handlers and world Schutzhund competitors from all over the world.  

Tony is a Certified Pet Care Technician with the Pet Care Services Association and an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. He also volunteers his time to conduct SAFER test for the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.  

Tony's training facility is one of only 28 training entities in the United States approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standard's Board to train and certify Police Narcotic Detection Dogs.

Paw-a-day Inn K9 Suites Dog Trainer Takes First Place!

McKenzie Henk, professional dog trainer at Paw-a-day Inn K9 Suites, earns three first place finishes this weekend in Rally Obedience.  

Henk and her Kerry Blue Terrier "Alistair" obtained their "RN" AKC title at the Champaign Dog Club.  Henk and "Alistair" received scores of 98, 96 and 98.

Henk will be the head trainer for the Group Rally Obedience Classes at Paw-a-day Inn K9 Suites.  Classes run from September 12 to October 17.  Space is limited and price is $120 for the class.  You can enroll by contacting Paw-a-day Inn K9 Suites at 217-442-7297
